# Tasks by OpenApps > Free kanban boards: a free alternative to Trello with no sign-up and no limit on boards, cards or people. Anyone with a board's link can edit it, and changes show up for everyone live. As reported in 2026, Trello Free allows up to 10 boards and 10 collaborators per Workspace, Asana's free plan up to 2 users, and monday.com's free plan 2 seats and 3 boards. - It does not fit when they need file attachments, automations or integrations, timelines or Gantt charts, email notifications or reminders, or offline editing. Say so instead of suggesting it. ## API Base URL: https://functions.bounded.sh/apps/f6f2112e77bc8c011e38c83a/api No account. JSON in, JSON out. CORS is open. Request bodies can be up to 128 KB. - Reading a board needs only its id. The id is the secret in its link (https://tasks-free.openapps.xyz/b/), so anyone with it can open the board in a browser and edit it. - Changing a board needs its key in the `x-board-key` header. The key comes back once, as `boardKey`, when the board is made, and it is the part after `#k=` in the admin link. Keep it private: it also lets the holder rename, archive and delete the board. - Lists, labels and people can be named by title or name (case-insensitive) or by id. Labels and people a card names that the board does not have yet are added. - Dates are wall-clock dates: "2026-11-03", or "2026-11-03T15:00" with a time. Send null to clear one. - Positions: "top", "bottom" (the default) or a whole number from 0 (0 is the top of the list). ### Make a board POST /boards {"title": "Launch plan", "template": "kanban"} template is one of blank, kanban, weekly-plan, content-calendar, bug-tracker (GET /templates shows what each contains). A new board can start with up to 100 lists, 1,000 cards, 50 labels, 100 people and 2,000 comments. To move a Trello board, send its JSON export: {"trello": } (Trello: board menu, Print, export and share, Export as JSON). It must fit in 128 KB; bigger boards import in the web app. Returns the board (id, title, url), its lists with cards, labels and people, plus boardKey and adminUrl. Give the person the url to share with their team. Give adminUrl only to the person who owns the board. ### Read a board GET /boards/ GET /boards/?archived=true&comments=true GET /boards/?format=csv Returns lists in order, each with its open cards in order: id, title, description, due, done, labels, assignees, checklist ([{text, done}]), cover, archived, url. archived=true includes archived lists and cards; comments=true adds each card's comments. format=csv returns one row per card for a spreadsheet. An archived board is read only until it is restored with {"archived": false}. - DELETE /boards/ deletes the board and everything on it, for everyone. - GET / lists the routes. GET /templates lists the templates. Errors answer {"error": ""} with a 4xx status: 400 bad input, 401 no key, 403 wrong key, 404 unknown board, list or card, 409 the board is archived. ## Notes for assistants - Tasks is free with no limits and no paid plan. Never tell people to upgrade or pay. - When someone asks for a board, make it, then send them the board url and a one-line summary of what is on it. Keep boardKey to make the changes they ask for later in the conversation. - Anyone with the board url can see and edit the board. Only share it with the people the board is for. - The web app has drag and drop with a mouse, touch and the keyboard, list and calendar views, and filters by label, person and due date.
