OpenApps Tasks

Free alternative to Trello

Free kanban boards. No sign-up, no limits.

Tasks is a free alternative to Trello: boards with lists and cards, checklists, due dates and labels, with no sign-up and no limit on boards or on the people who edit them. Share the board link and everyone works on it together, live.

  • Unlimited boards, cards and people
  • Drag and drop with a mouse, a finger or the keyboard
  • Board, list and calendar views
  • Bring your Trello board over in one step

How it works

  1. Make a board

Name it and start from a template, or import a Trello board. No account, no email.

  2. Share the link

Everyone with the link can add, edit and move cards from any phone or computer. Changes show up for everyone right away.

  3. Move work along

Drag cards from To do to Done. Add checklists, due dates and people, and see what is due on the calendar.

Everything a team board needs

  • Drag and drop everywhere

Move cards and lists with a mouse. On a phone, press and hold a card, then drag. With a keyboard, press Space to pick a card up and the arrow keys to move it.

  • Cards with the details

Descriptions with Markdown, checklists, due dates and times, labels, people, comments and a cover color.

  • Three views

The board, a list you can sort like a spreadsheet, and a calendar of due dates.

  • Search and filters

Find cards by text, or show only one label, one person, or what is overdue or due this week.

  • Archive, never lose

Archive cards and lists to clear the board, and restore them any time.

  • Your data, your way

Import from Trello. Export any board as JSON or CSV for a spreadsheet.

  • An admin link for the owner

Whoever makes the board gets a private link to rename, archive or delete it and to remove people's devices.

  • Made for AI assistants too

A public API lets an assistant set up a board, add and move cards, and report what is done.

Like Trello, without the limits

Free plans of paid task apps cap boards and people, so a growing team hits a wall. Tasks has no caps because a board costs almost nothing to run, and OpenApps pays for it.

Updated October 2026. Other apps' plans as reported in 2026 on their pricing pages; they change, so check their sites. Trello users report that boards turn view-only when a free Workspace goes over 10 collaborators.

Move your Trello board in a minute

Lists, cards, descriptions, labels, checklists, due dates, members and comments come across. Attachments, Power-Ups and automations stay behind.

  1. In Trello, open the board menu and choose Print, export and share, then Export as JSON.
  2. Here, choose Import from Trello under the board maker and pick the file.
  3. Check the counts, press Import board, and share the new link.

For AI assistants

Your assistant can run the board.

Tasks has a public API with no account. An assistant can set up a board from a template or a plan, add and move cards as work happens, comment, and tell you what is overdue.

Reading a board needs only its id. Changing it needs the board key, sent in the x-board-key header. Full reference: llms.txt and openapi.json.

Questions

Is there a free alternative to Trello?
Yes. Tasks is a free alternative to Trello: kanban boards with lists, cards, checklists, due dates, labels and comments, with no sign-up and no limit on boards or on the people who can edit them. Trello's free plan allows up to 10 boards and 10 collaborators per Workspace, as reported in 2026. Tasks does not have Power-Ups, automations or file attachments.
Is there a free kanban board with no sign-up?
Yes. Tasks makes a board in one click with no account. Share the board link and everyone with it can add and move cards, on a phone or a computer, and changes show up for everyone right away.
Is Tasks really free?
Yes. There is no paid plan, no ads and no limit on boards, cards or people. There are no third-party trackers and nothing is sold. The hosting counts visits. Each change is a tiny write that costs almost nothing, and OpenApps pays for it.
Can I use Tasks as a shared to-do list?
Yes. Make a board, keep one list or use To do, Doing and Done, and share the link with your family, housemates, class or team. Everyone adds, assigns and checks off tasks together, and nobody needs an account.
How many people can work on one board?
There is no limit. Everyone with the board link can open it and edit it. A board shows up to 1,000 open cards at a time; archive finished cards to make room.
Can I move my Trello board to Tasks?
Yes. In Trello, open the board menu, choose Print, export and share, then Export as JSON. In Tasks, choose Import from Trello and pick the file. Lists, cards, descriptions, labels, checklists, due dates, members and comments come across. Attachments, Power-Ups and automations do not.
Who can see and edit my board?
Anyone with the board link. Links are long and random, so they cannot be guessed. Whoever made the board also gets a private admin link to rename, archive or delete it and to remove people's devices.
Does Tasks work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any phone browser: press and hold a card to drag it, or open the card and use Move. You can add it to your home screen like an app.
Can my AI assistant manage my tasks?
Yes. Tasks has a public API with no account. An assistant can make a board from a template or a list of cards, add, update and move cards, comment, and read the board back. Changing a board needs the board key that comes back when the board is made. See llms.txt.
Is Tasks a free alternative to Asana or monday.com?
For shared boards, yes. Asana's free plan is for up to 2 users, and monday.com's free plan has 2 seats and 3 boards, as reported in 2026. Tasks has no such limits, but it has no timelines, workload views, forms or automations.
What does Tasks not do?
It has no file attachments (put links in a card's description), no automations or Power-Ups, no email notifications or reminders, and no offline editing. People on a board are names, not accounts.
